A Brief History of Orange Unicorn
Orange Unicorn began as a humble project born out of the global lockdown in 2020. Like many others, we found solace and escape in the world of visual novels. The intricate storytelling, compelling characters, and emotional journeys captivated us. Inspired by the creativity and expressiveness of these games, we embarked on our own journey to create something just as impactful (tried to).
With no experience in story writing, directing, or rendering, we faced a steep learning curve. Countless hours were spent watching how-to videos, experimenting with various tools, and enduring a myriad of trial-and-error moments. By 2022, our hard work culminated in the creation of our visual novel game, "DID." We meticulously designed our main characters and poured our hearts into rendering the scenes that would bring our narrative to life.
The Journey of "DID"
"DID" was a labor of love, a project that saw us through two years of relentless effort. Our initial plan was to release the game in June 2024. As the release date approached, however, we made a difficult decision. Despite our dedication and the progress we had made, we felt that "DID" did not fully meet our vision. We believed it could be better, more polished, and more engaging.
Just before making it public, we decided to pull the plug on "DID." It was a heart-wrenching decision, but we knew it was necessary. We wanted to deliver a game that truly resonated with our audience, one that we could be proud of. Thus, we decided to go back to the drawing board, rewrite the story from the ground up, and re-render the entire game.
Introducing "FRACTURED"
The rewritten and revamped version of "DID" will be released under a new name: "FRACTURED." This new title reflects the deeper, more nuanced narrative we aim to present. We are targeting to release in the second quarter of 2025.
While this delay may be disappointing, we believe it is necessary to ensure the game meets our high standards and exceeds player expectations. The additional time will allow us to refine the story, improve character development, and enhance the visual and auditory elements that are crucial for creating a compelling visual novel.
The Road Ahead: Visual Novel Game Schedule
We understand that waiting another year for "FRACTURED" might be challenging. Therefore, we are excited to announce that our latest game "first visual novel game", "War Of Mine: Ghost Part I," is ready for download and play. This game marks a new chapter for Orange Unicorn, showcasing our growth and the lessons we've learned over the past few years.
